Housemaster: Peter, it has come to my attention that you have been caught smoking behind the bushes again. This is not the first time we've had to have this conversation. I cannot stress this enough - smoking will not be tolerated within our school, and your insolence is unforgivable!
Pupil: I'm sorry, sir. I didn't mean to cause any trouble.
Housemaster: Damn it boy, your apologies are getting old! It's high time you take responsibility for your actions. You've brought shame upon yourself and our school. And now, your shoes are dirty. Don't you have any pride in your appearance?
Pupil: I'm sorry, sir. I'll clean them right away.
Housemaster: No, it's too late for that. You've made a mockery of our school's values and traditions. You will write out a thousand lines as punishment, and you will spend the next month in detention with me. And let me be clear, Peter, if this behaviour continues, I will have no choice but to consider expulsion. How dare you betray the trust that I've placed in you?
Pupil: I know, sir. I'm sorry. I understand the gravity of my actions.
Housemaster: Your understanding is not enough. You need to show that you can be a responsible member of this community. As you know, we are nearing the end of term, and that means end of term songs and cricket matches. You will participate in these activities and show your commitment to our school. Do you understand?
Pupil: Yes, sir. I understand.
Housemaster: Good. I hope this will be a lesson for you, Peter. We expect more from our students. Now go and start your punishment.
